Kicking all the boxes

AFTER ITS SUCCESS AT DUBLIN FRINGE 2017, KICKING ALL THE BOXES BY LIZ FITZGIBBON TOURED TO BOTH ELECTRIC PICNIC AND CLIFDEN ARTS FESTIVAL IN 2018, AND HAD A CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED RUN AT LONDON’S VAULT FESTIVAL IN 2019.

“When the anger builds what do you do? Try to control it.”

What do you do when life no longer parties with you but instead looms large with the big questions? What can you do? You can batter it into submission until – kicking and screaming – it stops asking what you have to show for yourself. From the mind of a former kick boxing champion (and developed with regular Enda Walsh collaborator Mikel Murfi) comes this explosive, physical, gut-busting – utterly fabricated – story like no other. Taking life’s big questions and leaving them reeling.

Fusing the music of iconic punk poet Jinx Lennon with a relentless physicality, Kicking All The Boxes is a theatrical experience like no other.

★★★★ – The Stage
“Engrossing and elusive, a sophisticated short, sharp punch of a show. There’s a lot of work at this year’s Vault Festival hailing from the Irish fringe. Here’s an early highlight."

"There is so much to admire here from FitzGibbon's performance, which has a real physical verve... really terrific scenes"
– Lyn Gardner, Stage Door

★★★★ – Breaking the fourth wall

“FitzGibbon as a wordsmith displays a knack for dropping in eclectic references that seamlessly fit together.”

“Emotional, visceral and raw”

– The Play’s the thing

Kicking All The Boxes was written and developed as part of Show in a Bag, an artist development initiative of Dublin Fringe Festival, Fishamble: The New Play Company and Irish Theatre Institute to resource theatre makers and actors.
